Loved this.

Born Again was probably my first encounter with Miller and Mazzucchelli.

Similarly blew my mind in how it was so different from X-Men that I was into as a teen. I still have the issues!

Thanks so much! Yeah I wonder what kind of path I'd have gone down if I'd dipped into these issues, many of which I saw at the shop while buying myself X-Men (and Transformers).

Just listened to this! Chip had a comment about how he was collecting the Nocenti/Romita run in floppies because the colors look so much better in newsprint paper and that comment really stuck with me.

I’m in my 20s so I don’t have a lot of comics from the 90s besides some of Peter David’s x-factor run. I have the omnibus too but something felt off to me about the omnibus that I didn’t realize until now. The colors really do look a lot better in the original.

It gave me interesting thoughts, could marvel somehow modify the art in these newer collections? Or would that be wrong to the spirit of the original coloring? Really interesting stuff!

I hadn’t read born again in years but I remember not loving it when I had read it digitally but I picked up one of those marvel premier editions ($13 is a good deal!) and I absolutely fell in love with it. I’ve been writing notes to my self and dissecting it because of how masterful the storytelling is here.

They use a non glossy paper to save on cost of the premier editions and I think the book is all the better for it. The matte cheap paper really gets close to the original feeling I’m sure exists on those original pages. I’m enchanted by the art and the colors used. You guys should check it out ! It really changed my experience reading the book!
