So exciting. I've been reading along for all of season 2 and picking up a lot of your other recommendations, and even when I don't vibe with the pick, I'm always glad I read it. The two announced books look great. Can't wait to see what else you license!

When the title is all together, I read it as man gasplaining...as in gaslighting combined with mansplaining. Just kinda funny. But only if you're female.

I want to learn about manga and also about Japan & its culture. Will this be a place for a ‘geezer’ American newbie?

absolutely! we definitely get into some of the Japanese cultural/historical context of the manga that we discuss on the podcast, and all of us (chip, david, chris, andrew and deb) have been to Japan many times, and will likely share our experiences in our newsletters and articles too.

Our goal with Mangasplaining was to provide a fun and accessible entry point to this world for everyone -- not just folks that are already familiar with the subject. But we also go deep into some subjects, so it's also interesting to people who already love manga and know something about Japan. I'm Japanese-American (this is Deb writing, btw) and coincidentally, half-Okinawan, so whenever possible, I try to bring that perspective into the mix too.

If there's any subject you're curious about, feel free to ask us here, or submit a question for our Q&A segment! We're also looking for feedback/suggestions on some of the original articles about manga/Japan that we'll be writing once a month for this newsletter.
